COVID-19 California Wrangler NFR Rodeo News Salinas postponed until September 2021
The California Rodeo Salinas has been celebrated by many fans Wrangler NFR Rodeo News and supporters throughout the past 110 years who keep the spirit of the west alive while generating money for local non-profits and economic impact for the city of Salinas. The not-for-profit organization worked diligently to make the celebration happen in 2020, but after postponing from July to October in hopes of hosting the large community event, it has been determined that the ongoing restrictions due to COVID-19 will not allow the events to take place. The organization looks forward to the community coming together July 15th-18th, 2021 for the 111th anniversary of this historic event.
This unfortunate decision was made after much deliberation by the COVID-19 Response Committee that has met weekly for the past few months. Breaking tradition is difficult and heartfelt thanks go out to the sponsors, volunteers and fans who were willing to support the California Rodeo Salinas and its auxiliary events even during these trying times. “We know that many events and celebrations have been cancelled, but we really held out hope that the California Rodeo Salinas would happen this year even if it had to be pushed to a later date. This rodeo is the largest community event held in Monterey County and ranked tenth in the United States out of more than 600 professional rodeos, so it was really tough to have to call it and let our community and contestants down, but we wish for the continued health of all of our supporters” said Dave Pedrazzi, President of the California Rodeo Salinas.
Big Week is typically full of festivities, but there will be no Big Week Carnival, Cowboy Shoot Out Golf Tournament, Kiddie Kapers Parade and Professional Bull Riding events in October. The Colmo del Rodeo Parade was previously cancelled and the Big Week Kick Off Concert featuring Toby Keith has been postponed to July 9, 2021. Updates for all events produced by the California Rodeo Association will be available at www.CARODEO.com as plans are solidified for 2021.
Tickets for the 2020 California Rodeo Salinas had not gone on sale to the general public. All season ticket holders and auction certificate recipients will be notified. Contact the ticket office by emailing tickets@carodeo.com if necessary. Tickets for the 2021 rodeo will go on sale in the spring of 2021.
